The Town of Oakville is inviting residents to participate in upcoming public engagement opportunities on June 17 and 19 to discuss two significant projects.
Transportation, stormwater and urban design solutions for Midtown Oakville
Public information centre, Thursday, June 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. — South Atrium at Town Hall
The Town will be hosting a public information centre (PIC) to present the proposed solutions selected to address transportation, stormwater and urban design opportunities in Midtown Oakville. These solutions were developed based on input gathered from the previous public information centres.
This drop-in event will include interactive activities, giving you a chance to ask questions, provide feedback, and connect directly with the project team.
Following Council’s adoption of the Midtown Oakville Official Plan Amendment (OPA), the town is developing a Midtown Implementation Program which includes infrastructure master planning studies for transportation and stormwater. The objective is to create a vibrant, liveable and mixed-use community with sustainable infrastructure systems. These studies are aligned with the Midtown OPA and other elements of the implementation program such as public realm, servicing, community planning permit by-law, and more.

Background
- The transportation and stormwater studies are being carried out in accordance with the Phase 1 and 2 of the master plan process, Approach 1, outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2023), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
- These master plan studies will form the basis for future, more detailed investigations for projects that are subject to the Environmental Assessment Act.
- The Midtown Oakville Official Plan Amendment was adopted by Council on February 18, 2025, and is with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for approval.
- Public information centre #1 for the Midtown Oakville infrastructure plans was held on October 25, 2023. And public information centre #2 was held on March 27, 2025.

A Stormwater Fee Feasibility Study was launched last year to explore funding options for a fair and equitable way to pay for the town’s stormwater management system and services to support infrastructure needs into the future.
After extensive community outreach in fall 2024, which included two town-wide surveys, and three public meetings staff presented to Council the preferred stormwater fee structure.
The Town’s Rainwater Management Plan (RWMP) is designed to ensure long-term sustainability of the Town’s stormwater infrastructure while enhancing climate resiliency. Funding to implement this plan will be through a stormwater fee, shifting the costs away from the property tax system.
