Registration closes on June 23
Youth aged 15 to 18 in Halton are invited to apply for a unique opportunity to discover exciting career paths within the fire services profession! Blaze Fire Academy, a joint initiative of the fire departments of Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills, is now accepting applications for a two-day immersive youth camp offering first-hand experience in all aspects of the fire service.
Led by the “Fire Services for All” approach, Blaze Fire Academy will offer training not only in fire suppression, but also a wide range of functions including emergency communications, medical response, inspections and code enforcement, fire prevention and education, and more.
The gender-inclusive camp will run August 13 to 14, 2025 for youth, ages 15 to 18. The online applications close on June 23, 2025 at 4 p.m.
Up to 24 participants will be selected for the camp to be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Training Campus in Oakville. They will take part in dynamic, team-based activities that show what it’s like to work in the fire services, including:
- Fire dispatch operations
- Search and rescue missions
- Auto extrication techniques
- Medical response training
- Forcible entry and roof operations
- Firefighter survival skills
- Fire prevention and education
- Fire service education and certification
