Oakville’s Canada Day festivities – proudly presented by Tim Hortons – returned to Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

This family-friendly birthday bash included community performances, interactive cultural displays, sports activities, crafts, face painting, strolling entertainers, delicious food trucks, and more!

Main stage performances featured Kune – Canada’s Global Orchestra, Celtic-fusion artist Mary Frances, and the high-energy ROCK STAR LIVE karaoke experience. Plus, a vibrant performance by the Oakville Chinese Network Society’s Dragon Dancers.

At 10 p.m., the night wrapped up with a dazzling fireworks display over Lake Ontario.

Kune – Canada’s Global Orchestra

Four members from the 11-piece orchestra explore and celebrate Canada’s cultural diversity through the shared language of music. In an educational performance designed for the whole family, Kune play and demonstrate a sound that is at once global and uniquely local.

Mary Frances

Mary Frances is a fiddler, pianist, dancer, and composer from Ontario. Since age five, she has been performing shows throughout Canada and the U.S. with her parents, Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, with an estimated 600 live performances under her belt. Mary Frances has been developing her own style, which is rooted in her Celtic heritage but also heavily influenced by jazz and Latin genres, into a new modern fusion.

ROCK STAR LIVE

ROCK STAR LIVE is live band karaoke, with lyrics displayed karaoke-style for guest singers and for the audience to sing along! ROCK STAR LIVE consists of real live rock stars! They have toured the world, sold over a million records, accumulated multiple Juno, Socan (#1 song), and Gold and Platinum Album Awards.

Arestov's Acrobatic Extravaganza

Created by Ivan Arestov, a second-generation circus artist, Arestov's Acrobatic Extravaganza is a fast-paced, family-friendly, exciting display of thrills and skills that will put audiences on the edge of their seats. His partner Maeve Beck, known for incredible contortion abilities and juggling prowess, also joins the show adding another depth of skill and variety.

Edllusion Magic

Edllusion Magic specializes in the performance of close up/ sleight of hand magic. Edllusion performs hundreds of events yearly including corporate events, weddings, television networks and private social events. He uses small everyday objects from his volunteers such as cards, money, coins and watches during his strolling performance.

Edward the Juggler

Edward is a Toronto based performer specializing in juggling and children’s entertainment. He has performed with Cirque Du Soleil, Russian State Circus and the European Circus. His performances include magic tricks, a hilarious inflatable clowning act and his specialty “juggling soccer balls.” It’s an incredibly fun spectacle for all ages with lots of audience participation.

NorthFIRE Circus

NorthFIRE Circus will feature three of the best circus street performers in the art of hula hoops, roller skating and stilt walking.

Oakville Chinese Network Society's Dragon Dancers

The Dragon Dancers use poles to rhythmically undulate their Chinese Silk Dragon, a symbol of power, strength and good fortune. In this traditional dance the dragon chases a “Pearl of Wisdom”, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. The dance is believed to drive away evil spirits and attract blessings.

Canada Day attendees are encouraged to avoid traffic and take the free Oakville Transit shuttle from Bronte GO station (north side parking lot) to Oakville’s Canada Day Celebration at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. All shuttles are accessible, wheelchair- and stroller-friendly.

Shuttle service began at 4:45 p.m., running approximately every 10 minutes. The last shuttle to the park left Bronte GO station at 9:30 p.m. Return shuttle service to Bronte GO Station began once the fireworks display ended. Road closures were in effect with no event parking available on site.

  • Service continued until the park was clear after the firework display and will continue until the last shuttle bus at 11 p.m.
  • Shuttle service to and from the event is free to everyone.
  • care-A-van service to the event is available through online booking.*

*Please note that care-A-van services will only be available for booking for a limited time. Customers will be unable to book rides after that time. Those who book services to the event using care-A-van must make their own arrangements for the return trip, or use the care-A-van shuttle or regular shuttle service operating to Bronte GO Station.

Parking Restrictions

Temporary “No Parking – Special Event” signs were installed in the Bronte area the week of June 24. Parking restrictions in signed areas will be enforced on Tuesday, July 1, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Road closures in two phases

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times in all closure areas. Stakeholders and residents are asked not to leave the closure area except in the case of an emergency, as re-entry into the closures will not be allowed.

Phase one road closures

The following special event road closures in Bronte area took effect at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1 (with additional closures beginning at 6 p.m.)

Arterial roads:

  • Bronte Road (Rebecca Street to Ontario Street)
  • Lakeshore Road West (Jones Street to Mississaga Street)

North of Lakeshore Road West:

  • East Street (Belyea Street to Sovereign Street) – local access only
  • Sovereign Street (Bronte Road to Jones Street) – local access only; no access to Bronte Road
  • Belyea Street (Bronte Road to Jones Street) – local access only; no access to Bronte Road
  • Hixon Street (Bronte Road to Jones Street) – local access only; no access to Bronte Road

South of Lakeshore Road West:

  • East Street (Marine Drive to Ontario Street)
  • Ontario Street (Bronte Road to East Street)
  • Marine Drive (Bronte Road to Nelson Street)
  • Jones Street (Lakeshore Road West to Ontario Street)

About our audience

Our Canada Day event attracts a diverse, engaged audience representing a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. This year’s anticipated attendance is 25,000+ visitors. They are actively seeking family-friendly, convenient and innovative programs and services. In a survey of past attendees, 50% were married or common-law and 40% had children.
